DREEV becomes first French EV aggregator accredited for FCR by RTE
DREEV, the joint venture between EDF and Nuvve, has become the first French electric vehicle aggregator to receive accreditation for Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) regulation in France by RTE.
FCR is a critical ancillary service of the European electricity grid, requiring fast automatic response to deviations in grid frequency. By aggregating a fleet of electric vehicles and leveraging vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, DREEV is able to use EV batteries as a distributed flexibility resource to provide this grid service — while vehicles are parked and charging. This milestone validates that EV fleets can reliably support grid stability, opening the door to large-scale deployment of smart EV charging for ancillary services in France.
